　　I took a trip to Shanghai with my mother during the seven-day holiday. It took us more than two hours to drive to Shanghai from my home in Haimen. We stayed in a large hotel on the eighth floor. On the first day, I just stayed in the hotel and rested. On the second day, my brother and I went to Nanjing Road. It’s the busiest street in Shanghai. When we got there, there were lots of people. We walked from one shop to another.

　　I bought two T-shirts and two pairs of trousers for the coming summer. The T-shirts and trousers I bought are all white because white is my favourite colour. My brother also bought some clothes. On the third day, my mother took me to Jinjiang Entertainment Centre. It was full of people. I played many kinds of games there. I had a good time. The other days, I went to some other interesting places, such as the Oriental Bright Pearl TV Tower, the Huangpu River and Shanghai International Conference Centre. I didn’t forget to do my homework in the evening. I had a full and happy holiday.

　　Have you ever been to Shanghai ? I went to Shanghai last summer vacation, there were bright neon lights and skyscrapers around the city. Everything looked extremely stylish and full of energy.

　　On the first day, we went to China Pavilion. Its an important building. Its magnificent and unique. And then we came to the top of the Oriental Pearl. Its the landmark of Shanghai. Looking down from the top of the 258-meter tower, cars were like beetles and roads were like ribbons. There were also many delicious snacks in Shanghai, such as small steamed bun and scallion noodles. Their delicacy left me a strong aftertaste.

　　During the following days, we went to The Bund, Science Museum and even The Docks. Shanghai is a beautiful city! The scenery there was beautiful , fantastic at night. In the evening , when I walked around the city, I was deeply attracted by the beautiful scenery, What an amazing city! I hope to visit Shanghai next time.

　　On summer holiday my parents took me to Beijing. We stayed at Huabei Hotel. On the first day, we went to the Great Wall. The Great Wall is very long and old. It has millions of bricks. Each brick is very big and heavy. Lots of people from different countries like climbing the Great Wall. We felt very tired when we climbed to the top of the Great Wall.

　　We also went to the Palace Museum. The Palace Museum has 9999 palaces. It has a very long history. I bought a lot of souvenirs of the Palace Museum. What nice palaces these are! I visited the Palace Museum and felt excited. If you want to know more about the Palace Museum, you can go to Beijing and have a look.

　　The following days, we went to the Summer Palace, Tian Tan, North Lake and Xiang Hill. I now know more about the history of China. I also like modern Beijing. The 2008 Olympic Games will be held in Beijing.

　　Later, I went back with my parents by train. I really enjoyed the trip to Beijing.

Besides, the government also pays great attention to the improvement of public transportation. We citizens can find that many roads have been widened and several new metro lines are being built now. Furthermore, the common people of all ages are keen on learning English and even took some foreign language courses, hoping to be a volunteer for the World Expo.

　　There is no doubt that we have made great achievements, but these are still not enough. For example, first, in my point of view, as the host, we Shanghainese ought to be better informed of the related knowledge of the Expo in order to help foreign visitors. 　　Word came that a reading festival would be held by our school and there is a need for a picture for advertisement and I am writing to give my opinion. From my perspective , I am in favor of the picture in the top right corner.

　　As is vividly depicted in that picture, around the table sit three kids with a couple of books in their hands, having a heated discussion about the contents and sharing their thoughts for the themes, which shows their dedication and passion for reading.

　　Basically, several reasons are listed for my preference. First, nothing is more attractive than a proper and realistic picture. This picture serves as an epitome of our daily reading scene in the school and it is apt to let students recall the joy and harvest while reading.

　　Second, this picture stands for the fun of sharing and exchanging ideas. With regard to reading, there is a saying that there are a thousand Hamlets in a thousand peoples eyes. After reading, bits and pieces of thoughts will appear in our mind, so it is beneficial to have a better understanding after comparing notes about what we have read.

　　From what is mentioned above, I, undoubtedly, approve of the picture in the top right corner. Thus, I would appreciate it if you could take my proposal into consideration and I wish this festival a complete success.

　　Actually, the three photos are equally attractive to us students. If we must elect one to publicize, I prefer the one that is composed of books, coffee, musical notes and instrument, which creates the an agreeable and relaxed atmosphere.

　　“Read a good book, just like a noble people in conversation.”, which is said by Gerd, reveals that books play an essential role in our life. Creating an atmosphere by music and coffee，it appeals to students to start reading. Moreover, the image could imply that reading has the function of nurturing spirituality and purifying mind.
