Competition is a common phenomenon in our social life. We compete when we play games, we try to do better than others in our study, and there is constant competition for jobs, fame, wealth and so forth. We can say that, in a certain sense, competition is one of the motive forces of the development of the society.
We often find competition and cooperation at the same time. Think of a football game. During the game, one team is competing against the other, but each member of the team must cooperate with his teammates. Otherwise, they would lose the game however skilled every individual player might be.
While advocating competition, we must not forget cooperation. In modern society, cooperation is especially necessary because except for a few craftsmen and artists, most work is fulfilled with and through other people. It is inconceivable for an individual to live without the assistance from others. Every single person needs to cooperate with others to survive in the modern days, to conquer stumbling blocks, to plete integrated tasks, or to achieve higher expectations, all of which are not able to be conducted by mere petition.
All the illustrations above can warrant the point that both petition and cooperation are indispensable.
