　　Among various recipes one enjoys in his or her college life, recreational activities can by no means be ignored. It is numerous activities, such as spoken English competitions, sports events, and clubs and societies of different interests, that help to make campus life colorful and diversified.

　　Facing so many interesting extracurricular activities, we college students have trouble to choose the proper ones. As freshmen, we are confused by all kinds of posters for students’ clubs to recruit new members. There are two opposite views about recreational activities. One says they exert positive influence on a student’s physical and mental development, for they can explore a student’s talent, develop a student's ability in communication, and teach them to be more independent. While, opposite voices can also be heard by asserting that recreational activities waste too much time, and therefore may hinder student from focusing on his or her study.

　　As for me, I hold a belief that recreational activities do more good than harm, because I have always been of the impression that as a college student, he or she, besides the academic information, should pick up more practical skills to be better prepared for the career development. Recreational activities do give us a good chance. And, so long as one can arrange the time by reason, activities besides study will definitely provide more benefit for us.

　　Abundant recreational activities make people’s life more colorful and people can release their stress with amusement. Also, participating in recreational activities helps promote our competence. However, too much recreational activities will bring problems. For instance, many young students are addicted to online games, which will generate bad effects on their studies and might lead bad consequences.

　　In my opinion, we should keep a balance between amusement and study or work. Of course, we should join some recreational activities after study, but we need arrange our time properly. Only in this way can recreational activities provide more benefits for us.

For example, many students will hold a union to collect their old classmates or friends in winter holiday so that they have a common time to communicate with each other. Last but not least, such activities like climbing a mountain provide a good chance to do exercise.

　　However, these recreational activities also bring some problems at the same time. For one thing, taking part in too many these activities will increase the burden of themselves or their families because it is inevitable to spend some money in holding these activities. It was the violin that brought me into the music world and I was totally fascinated by it. When the beautiful notes slip through my fingers, my world is occupied by music without being noticed. After learning and practicing, I can play the violin, piano as well as guitar out of my love for music. Enjoying my own music always helps me release my pressure and regulate mood. Maybe I can’t live without music because my life is under the nurture of music over the years.The amusement which I like best is watching movies. There are many kinds of movies----horror movies, action movies, comedies, to name just a few. Not only do the variety of movies bring me a lot of fun, but also they teach me a lot. I learned teachers should treat students with love and patience from The Chorus. I also saw the true love between humans and animals in the film Hachiko A Dogs Story. Movies show tastes of life and creative ideas to us. There’s no doubt that we can both relax ourselves and know the true meaning of life by watching movies. Watching movies has many advantages, which is why it’s my favourite amusement.
