　　小說一開篇就以構思奇特奠定了全書的基調。格列佛被風暴吹到荒島上，醒來時發現自己已被百多個小人五花大綁。這段文字生動地描述了初次走進格列佛視野里的小人們的言行舉止，特別是他們不斷地射箭刺痛格列佛的行為，為以后情節的進展埋下了伏筆。
