　　我的爺爺年近六旬，兩鬢斑白，戴著一副眼鏡。爺爺?shù)挠⒄Z特別好，周圍的人都很羨慕他，可誰能知道他學(xué)英語付出了多少心血呢？

　　爺爺特別關(guān)心國家大事，自從中國加入世貿(mào)組織，中國人學(xué)英語的積極性空前高漲。正好社區(qū)里辦了個(gè)英語補(bǔ)習(xí)班，爺爺便去報(bào)了名，他把這個(gè)秘密告訴了我，還叫我別跟別人說。我哈哈大笑說：“您學(xué)英語笑死人了。”爺爺卻說：“一年后，咱們就比誰的`英語好，怎么樣？”我爽快地說：“好！”但晚餐時(shí)，我卻公開了這個(gè)消息。爸爸、媽媽、奶奶都捧腹大笑，奶奶說：“你呀！你呀！都這把年紀(jì)了，還學(xué)什么英語，傳出去讓人家笑落大門牙！”媽媽說：“您60多歲了，還有這樣的雄心壯志？”爺爺沉默了一會兒，生氣地說：“我國改革開放30多年來，許多外國人來中國，我外出旅游，碰上外國人，不就可以用英語和外國人交流嗎？”爸爸見爺爺生氣了，就說：“好！您去學(xué)吧！”爺爺學(xué)英語的勁頭可足啦！每天早上6點(diǎn)前就起床，從練習(xí)讀26個(gè)字母開始，再讀記詞組……有時(shí)把我給吵醒了，我便對爺爺說：“您怎么這么煩……”爺爺說：“你睡吧，我不吵了。”我想：您不吵誰信……早上，我和爺爺一起去買菜，爺爺邊走，邊念著ABC，旁邊的人都望著我們倆笑，我滿臉通紅，就小聲對爺爺說：“您別練了，別人還以為我倆是神經(jīng)病呢！”爺爺卻毫不在意地說：“怕什么，無所謂。”我只好離爺爺遠(yuǎn)一點(diǎn)了。晚上，我和爺爺一起睡，9點(diǎn)了，爺爺一直在讀英語。我夜里起來上廁所時(shí)，睜開眼睛，一道刺眼的光向我射來，我一看手表：“呀！12點(diǎn)多了。”我催爺爺睡覺，他拿我沒辦法，只好睡覺了。

　　五六個(gè)月過去了，我想知道爺爺?shù)挠⒄Z學(xué)得怎么樣，便偷偷地聽他練習(xí)英語，爺爺講的英語前面的我明白，可后面的我卻一點(diǎn)也聽不懂，只好去問他老人家，爺爺笑著對我說：“小子，你的英語不如我哩！”一年多過去了，爺爺?shù)挠⒄Z，讓我沒話好說了。

　　Jiaozi is my favourite food. Since childhood I haw learned how to make it. There are five steps.

　　First you make the dough by mixing water into the flour. The container shculd be big enough lest the flour and water will overflow. Press the dough with your hands till it is not sticky. When the dough is ready, leave it there for use later, then go on to make the fillings.

　　The second step is to mince the meat, mushrooms and shnmps till they are mixed in a paste. Add some spice such as ginger and onion and stir them evenly.

　　The third step is to make the wrappings. Roll the dough with a round stick into small round pieces of wrappings, each two inches in diameter.

　　The fourth step is to put the filling in the middle of a wrapping. Then press the wrapping tight and a jiaozi is ready. When you have made enough Jiaozi, the next step is to boil them.

　　That is the last step. Put a pot of water on the stove. When the water is boiling, put the Jiaozi one by one into the water and cover the pot. When steam comes out, add more cold water and when it boils again add cold water a second time. When you see the Jiaozi floating in boiling water, you can put them in bowls or plates, get the chopsticks and be ready to eat.

　　餃子是我喜歡的食物。從童年起我就學(xué)會了包餃子，共有5個(gè)步驟。

　　第1步，先用水和面，和面盆要大些，以免水和面溢出。用手揉面團(tuán)，直到不粘手為止。和好面以后，將做餃餡。

　　第2步，剁肉餡，將蘑菇和蝦米攪拌成糊狀，放入調(diào)味品如姜、蔥，并把餡攪勻。

　　第3步，做餃皮。用搟面杖搟出一張張直徑為兩英寸的`圓餃皮。

　　第4步，把餡放入餃皮中，捏緊餃皮，一個(gè)餃子就做成了。餃子包夠了，下一步就是煮餃子。

　　煮餃子是最后的一步，鍋中放上水，擱在爐灶上燒，水開時(shí)，一個(gè)一個(gè)地把餃子放入開水中，蓋上鍋蓋。水冒氣時(shí)，要加些冷水;水開時(shí)，再加第2次冷水。當(dāng)餃子漂浮上來時(shí)，盛入碗中，準(zhǔn)備好碗筷，即可食用。

　　最近我發(fā)現(xiàn)媽媽的英語個(gè)別發(fā)音很不標(biāo)準(zhǔn)，我心中不禁萌發(fā)出一個(gè)念頭—搞個(gè)速成培訓(xùn)班教媽媽學(xué)英語。我左哄右騙，死拉硬纏，終于把媽媽這個(gè)學(xué)生給逼上了梁山，于是我的“teacth”生涯就開始了。

　　一復(fù)習(xí)鞏固

　　根據(jù)我的教學(xué)大綱，決定先幫媽媽復(fù)習(xí)鞏固一下英文字母。我讓媽媽先背一遍字母歌，不背不知道，一聽嚇一跳，媽媽有好幾個(gè)字母發(fā)音大走樣，我只好讓媽媽按照我的要求把那些字母每個(gè)讀30遍。開始媽媽很虛心，可到后來就不耐煩了說：“我那么聰明只要讀三遍就好了，哪用讀那么多遍呀？”看來媽媽還真是死鴨子—嘴硬，我得改變策略，硬的不行來軟的，我陪著笑臉說：“媽媽，熟能生巧，業(yè)精于勤，你讀得不錯(cuò)，如果能鞏固鞏固，就更好了。”這招還真管用，服軟不服硬的媽媽又認(rèn)真學(xué)了起來，不久字母就搞定了。

　　二單詞訓(xùn)練

　　學(xué)完字母，當(dāng)然是學(xué)單詞啦！我先教媽媽最簡單的，我本想看媽媽的.好戲，沒曾想媽媽又快又標(biāo)準(zhǔn)地“吐”出這幾個(gè)單詞，嗯，看來媽媽的基礎(chǔ)還不差，這幾個(gè)單詞還難不倒她嗎！我壞笑著決定給媽媽增加一點(diǎn)難度，果然不出我所料，我教的這幾個(gè)單詞，媽媽都沒學(xué)過，發(fā)音就更別提多走樣了。我反復(fù)糾正，可媽媽就是我行我素，正當(dāng)我苦思冥想著如何糾正時(shí)，瞧見媽媽偷偷摸摸地在本子上寫著什么，我很奇怪，趁媽媽不注意之時(shí)，一把搶過本子一看，差點(diǎn)笑掉大牙，原來媽媽把“waterbbottle”寫成了“我偷抱頭”，英譯中了，我看了把肚子都笑疼了，我邊學(xué)邊把本子還給媽媽，媽用這個(gè)笨辦法搞定了不少短語和單詞呢！

　　三完美考核

　　眼看我對媽媽的培訓(xùn)就快告一段落了，我決定給媽媽來一次出其不意的考試。一天中午，我把媽媽叫到客廳，開始考試，這一考媽媽就露出了廬山真面目，她回答的牛頭不對馬嘴。唉！姜雖然是老的辣，但還是要認(rèn)真呀！我甩下一句話：“三心二意，一事無成，一定要認(rèn)真復(fù)習(xí)。”以后只要媽媽有空，就總瞧見媽媽在復(fù)習(xí)，功夫不負(fù)有心人，有一天，媽媽來接我，我見機(jī)連忙又考起媽媽，媽媽一愣，然后流利地回答起來，聽得出來，那些單詞短語媽媽也是花了心思的。

　　With SARS gradually passing its peak, more and more people take off their gauze masks. They feel released and have more freedom to breathe in fresh air. However, a certain number of people have restored their bad habit and start to spit everywhere. Now and then, whether in the street, or on the bus, or in city gardens, we will see some people, the fine ladies and gentilemen, spitting without feeling a bit ashamed as shown in the picture. When shown the" NO SPITTING !sign, they just turn a blind eye to it. Still worse, people around have to be on guard against the sudden attack of ＇spit

　　shot" from the spitters.

　　Spitting is a terrible habit. For one thing, it is-entirely uncivilized. The world has entered the 21st century and human civilization has reached a more advanced stage.Why can＇t those people remove this ugly habit? Is it because they think the earth is a gigantic spittoon? For another thing, spitting does great harm to public health. According to chemical laboratory test, one sputum contains thousands upon thousands of germs and SARS viruses if the spitter is a SARS Sufferer. As was reported, the Beijing Municipal Government once mobilized an army of a thousand sanitation workers to clean out the mess in Tian An Men Square.

　　For people to get rid of this uncivilized behaviour, we suggest local authorities strengthen education by publicizing the harmfulness of spitting, and at the same time, enforce the law of punishment.

　　Finally, we, citizens of the earth, must he self-disciplined, love our Mother Earth and don＇t dirty her.
