  Good morning, everyone!

  Today, I’ll say something about Unit 9 Part A in Book 4 of Oxford English.

Grade four is the initial stage of English learning, so it stresses on the emotion of the Ss, creates a well beginning for the Ss. This Unit has 7 parts, we’ll learn Part A mainly, it embodies the repeating characterize. Review the learned language points "Where’s…"and the new language points will be represented in the following units. So this unit forms connecting links with a special meaning in this book.

  The content of this period is to use "Where’sare…" to determine the place. And according to the contents and the fact of the Ss, I establish the following three teaching aims of this period:

  The first one: students can listen, read, say and spell the following words: a glass, a fridge, an egg, bread and a table.

  The second one: students can listen, read, say and write the following daily expressions: What’s for breakfast?

  I think the most difficult point of this period is to make sure the students can use the patterns "Where’sWhere are…and There is no …inon ear…" in their daily life correctly.

  The task-based method, communicated method, group cooperate method will be used in this period.

  To accomplish the aims, I design the following steps:

  Step 1 Songs and the game arousers the emotion.

  In order to attract the Ss’ attention and construct an atmosphere of learning English, I let the students sing some English songs and play the game "Simon says". At the same time the game can review the prep, serve the knowledge as foil and consist the appearance of the knowledge.

  Step 2 Change class to life, happy to say.

  The substance of language is communication and the environment of communication is life. So when I present the sentence pattern "What’s for breakfast?" I first show a clock to elicit the time for breakfast, teach the sentence. Then show my own photo of having breakfast, Ss ask and guess. In this way I can attract Ss’ attention, encourage Ss to ask Qs with the new knowledge.

  Good morning, everyone! It’s my honor to present my lesson plan here. The teaching material comes from PEP Go for it 8B U6. The title of the reading part is I’ve been studying history in China. History is the topic of this passage. The story is narrated by an Australian, Leo, who tells his life in China, his family history and his study of history. This reading mainly focuses on developing Ss’ reading skill, especially scanning. So this is one of the language focuses. As for the content, because of many new words and phrases in the context and Ss’ lack of the knowledge about “history”, it is a little difficult for them to understand the passage. So the Ss may have a bit difficulty in retelling the passage in the last activity role-play. Thus I rearrange the material like this: The 3 questions in pre-reading are modified. I’ll choose some easier and funnier questions to lead Ss into the topic History. The grammar review in Exercise 3b, 3c is not the language focus in this lesson, thus it’s considered as the homework.

  According to the New English Curriculum, the teaching should not only focus on the development of Ss’ reading strategy, also the Ss’ interest in English. So I apply communicative approach, making use of real-life situations to motivate their desire to communicate in meaningful ways about meaningful topics. Ss will enjoy their participation in this lesson by discussion and role-playing. As for the teaching aids, PPT, blackboard and audio tape are needed.

  Based on those analyses, I set the following 5 teaching objectives. By the end of the class, Ss will be able to:

  1. Linguistic knowledge

  Master new words and expressions, such as emperor, dynasty, capital etc. (this is the language focus)

  Be familiar with the topic history.

  Ok, now let’s move to the most important part: teaching procedure. I adopt 3-stage model: pre-reading, while-reading and post-reading. The duration is 45 minutes.

  In pre-reading stage, there’re 2 activities for 9mins. I’d like to introduce Leo to Ss as a new friend. The first activity is Leo’s self-introduction through a short record. The record is prepared before the class with some key information about Leo. As a foreigner, Leo loves Chinese history very much, so he has many questions to ask Ss. The first one is about the emperors and the dynasties. Ss should be able to do the match between them. Those emperors are all famous characters in the Chinese history, such as Tang Taizong, Cheng Jisihan, Kang Xi and so on. The second one is about the famous capitals in the history. Ss should pick out the city which was not the capital in the history. By the way, I will provide some information about Harbin, which is the city where Leo lives. This introduction can also build Ss’ knowledge structure. This kind of lead-in could be funnier and easier, and the comfortable atmosphere can help Ss’ to acquire new knowledge easily.

  In the second stage while-reading, there are 2 steps; they are fast-reading for 6mins and careful-reading for 15mins. There’re 2 activities in fast-reading: skimming for the main idea of each paragraph and scanning for the specific and important information to fill in the blanks. These tasks can help them get the general idea of the passage.

  In careful-reading step, I’ll guide them to learn the passage paragraph by paragraph, from Leo’s introduction to Leo’ s family history, and Leo’s study of history, the last is Leo’s dream. Different tasks are designed for Ss: For the first paragraph, Ss are asked to find some key words about Leo: Australian, Jewish, etc. For the second paragraph, Ss are required to fill in the time table about Leo’s family history. As for Leo’s study, Ss are asked to make a comparison between Leo and his friends. The last is Leo’s dream, I’ll ask Ss several simple questions. I will make sure that Ss won’t be bored by the tasks and participate in all the activities actively.

  In post-reading, there’re 2 activities for 14mins: discussion for 5mins and role-playing for 9mins. I’ll ask Ss two questions: Q1: Why are some old buildings in Harbin built in Russian style? Q2: Why does Leo want to go to Beijing for the Olympic Games in 2008? What can we infer from that? Ss are supposed to learn more about the history of China and other countries, and develop their patriotic feeling. The role-playing is Leo’s talking with his friend Mike. They are talking about Leo’ life, work and the future plan. What Ss have learned in this lesson is needed in the talking. In order to lower the degree of the difficulty, I’ll provide some sentence structures, some questions and key words. So this can be considered as a review of the whole lesson. And this is the right time to practice Ss’ oral English and they should talk in the correct tense to practice the grammar we have learned before.

  The last minute is for explaining homework: Suppose that Leo’s friend Mike is coming China for the Olympic Games, we should give him some tips. Ss are asked to get more information through the books and the Internet, and then write down at least 3 tips in the following structure: If you want to go to the Great Wall, you will have to take No.15 bus…. This task comes from Exercise 3b, 3c. Ss can not only review adverbial clauses of condition introduced by If according to the requirements of the teaching material but also enjoy learning with the given situation. As time’s limited in the class, the task is left as the homework.

  Finally, making a good use of the blackboard can help Ss learn better. So this is my blackboard design: the title is in the middle of the blackboard, the left part is for some information related to Leo and also the structure of the whole passage, the right part is for some new words and expressions.

The content of my lesson is the reading and writing part of Unit3 in Book Two. I’m ready to begin this lesson with seven parts: analysis of teaching material, analysis of students, teaching aims, teaching & learning methods, teaching procedures, blackboard design and teaching reflections.

  First, let me talk about the teaching material.

  Part 1: Analysis of the teaching material

  I will analyze this part from two sections: Book and Content.

  Our textbook published by Jiangsu Education Publishing House is English Basic Module Two for vocational schools. It emphasizes improving Ss’ four language skills—listening, speaking, reading and writing. It also emphasizes interest and utility.

  This unit is the third one and the topic is about bargaining at the market. The aims are to understand shopping information and how to buy goods and make a bargain.

  This is the reading and writing part, which is the highlight of the whole unit. It helps students to know what Buy Nothing Day is and understand its origin and the ideas it advocates, which is the theme of this unit.

  Now, let me have an analysis of my students.

  Part 2: Analysis of the Ss

  My students are from Grade One, majoring in electro mechanics. There are 42 students in all, 9 girls and 33 boys. They are quick in thinking and active in class, though they have a weak language foundation and poor ability of communicating in English. Besides, they love shopping, and they want to know something about shopping in western countries. Therefore, they are wiling to participate in interesting activities in class and are brave enough to express themselves.

  According to the new curriculum standard, the syllabus and my students situations, I set the teaching aims as follows:

  Part 3: Teaching aims

  Knowledge aims are to enable Ss to master important words , phrases and understand the text and get information about Buy Nothing Day in western countries.

  Ability aims are to enable Ss to improve their reading ability, especially skimming and scanning abilities. And to help them learn to write a complaint letter.

  Emotion aims are to enable Ss to foster the idea of reasonable consumption and raise environmental protection awareness and know team spirit by cooperating with each other.

  According to the teaching aims, the key points of this lesson are to enable Ss to grasp important words and phrases and get details about Buy Nothing Day.

  And the difficult points are to help Ss learn to write a complaint letter and raise the interest of learning English through class activities.

  Next, let me show you my teaching methods.

  Part 4: Teaching & Learning methods

  The aims of learning English are to improve Ss’ four language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. As we all know, Ss are the real masters of the class, so the teacher should act as a guider, an organizer and a director.

  Based on my belief that teaching is all for students, I choose the following teaching methods, such as Task-based teaching method, situational teaching approach, student-centered teaching method and so forth.

  My Ss learn English by means of the following ways such as autonomous study, target learning and cooperative study in pairs or groups and so on.

  In order to strengthen students interest and attention, I present the text through the use of multi-media teaching aids. It runs through the whole class.

  Part 5: Teaching procedures.

  I set 6 steps to finish studying this part in three lessons.

  Step 1: Lead-in

  Activity 1: Enjoying a video and telling the story about the film:

  Purpose: Story telling can check Ss’ preparation for the class and also train Ss’ oral English and ability of speaking.

  Teaching effect: Actually, my Ss’ did well. They love watching film and have prepared before class, so they were active here and willing to have a try.

  I present four questions. My Ss discuss and answer them.

  Purpose: After discussing the questions, the topic of this passage – “Buy Nothing Day” can be put forward naturally.

  Teaching effect: Shopping is close to my Ss’ daily life, so they had much to say and a relaxed and active atmosphere was built here.

  Step 2: Pre-reading

  Read the new words and phrases, and translate them into Chinese.

  Purpose: This step can not only check Ss’ grasp of words before class, but also make the word preparation for the next reading.

  Teaching effect: In fact, my Ss’ reactions achieved my purpose. They mastered the words well.

  Step 3: While-Reading

  Activity 1: Skimming

  Purpose: Through this task, Ss can consolidate what they have learned today and learn to treat shopping in a rational way so that they can consume rationally in the future. This is internalization.

  Teaching effect: Actually, my Ss have understood the text and had such a heated discussion in groups that they could write down the answers except for some spelling mistakes.

  By this step, it achieved the teaching aims of understanding the text and fostering the abilities of practice, participation and cooperation.

  Step 5: Extension

  I use Situational teaching approach here.

  Activity 1: Having a competition

  My Ss discuss the questions about their different shopping experiences and have a competition to list the shopping problems.

  Purpose: Competition can arouse Ss’ interest. Through this task, the knowledge about shopping Ss got from the text is combined with their daily life.

  Teaching effect: In fact, each pair had their own problems, but some groups made mistakes in writing and expressing.

  Activity2: Having a discussion about how to write a complaint letter to solve the shopping problem.

  Purpose: This step can help Ss to know the main content and component parts of a complaint letter, preparing for the next step.

  Teaching effect: Actually, each pair could find the right order according to their real experience.

  Activity 3: Writing--- completing a complaint letter

  Purpose: Through this step, Ss can master the key points to write a complaint letter. And it trains Ss’ ability of writing.

  Teaching effect: In fact, most Ss are poor in writing. But they could finish the task based on last activity.

  This step leads to the emotion aims of this lesson, which are to treat shopping in a rational way, consume rationally, and develop the Ss’ interest of learning English.

  Step 6: Self-evaluation and Homework

  At the end of the class, I present a form to help Ss review what they learnt in this part and check how much they mastered in the lesson.

  And then according to the survey, I assign homework to students of different levels: lower students, middle-level students and A-class ones. And I also have homework for group.

  Purpose: My homework offers Ss tasks of different levels. They can choose according to their own situations. This kind of homework satisfies the needs of different Ss.

  Teaching effect: The homework for each student has been done well, but the homework for groups had no effect.

  Well, let me talk about the sixth part--- Blackboard design.

  Part 6: Blackboard Design

  My blackboard design is just like this. I divide the blackboard into two parts. I use the left part to write the advantages and disadvantages about shopping. Ss use the right part to have group competition. Each group writes the problems they meet when shopping.

  Part 7: Teaching Reflections

  At last, as a teacher, I have some reflections.

  Advantages

  1. Through different kinds of activities, such as group competition and discussion, Ss’ interest was aroused and a relaxed and active atmosphere was built.

  2. Through different kinds of tasks, such as exercises, cooperation and participation, Ss mastered more knowledge, and their reading ability and writing skills were improved.

  3. More attention was paid to the students’ need and Ss trained their ability of cooperation in pair work and group work.

  Disadvantages

  1. Rushing to answer made the good students answer more questions. I think the poor students should be given more opportunities.

  2. Discipline problem. I should improve my ability to control the whole class.

  Good morning, teachers. Today I’m very glad to show my teaching plan here. The lesson I’m going to talk about is from lesson 1, unit 1, PEP book 1. Generally, I’ll teach this lesson from the following aspects: teaching material, teaching aims, teaching and learning methods, teaching procedures and blackboard designing. Firstly, let’s look at the teaching material. This unit discusses about the stationery. And this lesson is the first one of this unit. It consists of two parts: Let’s learn and Let’s do. In Let’s learn, it requires Ss to master the new words "pencil, pen, crayon, ruler, eraser". Ss have learned some words about stationery. They’re still very interested in that. So they’ll be interested in this new lesson. Secondly, let’s talk about the teaching aims. The New Curriculum Standard points out that the objective of English in the basic educational stage is to develop Ss’ ability of language using. According to that and the teaching material, I’d like to make the following aims: First, knowledge aims: Enable Ss to master the new words "pencil, pen, crayon, ruler, eraser" and the structure "I like…".

  Second, ability aims: Develop Ss’ basic ability of listening and speaking. Enable them to use the structure freely in the real situation. Third, emotion aims: Develop Ss’ consciousness of cooperation and competition. Fourth, learning strategy aims: Enable Ss to pay attention to the observation and communication.

  Fifth, culture aims: Make Ss understand the differences between Chinese and English culture. According to the analysis of material and the characteristics of pupils, I think the teaching importance of this lesson is the 5 new words and the new structure. The teaching difficulty is to use the words and the structure freely in the real situation. Thirdly, I’d like to analyze Ss and show you my teaching and learning methods. Grade 3 is the first year to learn English. Ss are very curious about English. They’re active and competitive. Also, they are good at imitating. But, their attention can’t be kept long. So it requires us to use attractive teaching manners to hold Ss’ attention. Based on the psychoanalysis and Ss’ interests, I mainly use the task-based approach, which embodies the idea of the New Curriculum Standard and can help Ss keep their passion for English. In order to help Ss finish the task efficiently, I’ve prepared activities such as TPR, chanting, singing, game, etc. I also arrange individual work, pair work and group work for Ss to practice. Besides, praise is very important. When they have a chance to speak, and have done a good job, they can get a star or something like that on their books. It’s very important to keep Ss’ interests.

  Fourthly, we come to the most important part—the teaching procedures. It can be divided into 5 steps: warm-up, presentation, practice, extension and homework. First, let’s look at step 1 "Warm-up". In this part, I’ll get the Ss to sing a song and do some revision. The purpose of singing a song is to attract Ss’ attention and make a relaxing atmosphere for Ss to concentrate on the English class. The revision aims to help Ss review the words and sentences they have learned before and get them prepared for the new lesson. Step 2 "Presentation". As we know, children are characterized by image thinking. They can understand the content easily with the help of the gestures. After the new words are taught, a small conclusion can help them master better. And chant is a good way to strengthen their memory and make the poor feel confident, as well as their pronunciation and intonation. The chant in this part is like this: A pen, a pencil, I can see. A pen, a pencil, for you and me. And it’s necessary to present the new words in different ways to avoid boredom and tediousness. Step 3 "Practice". Traditionally, there aren’t many chances offered for Ss to talk in the class. That’s not a proper way to learn English. So I’ll try some activities in my lesson, such as games and role play. Games aim to stimulate Ss’ interests in English and strengthen their memories of what’s been learned before. And also train their consciousness of cooperation and competition. Role play is a good way to improve their ability of language using. Step 4 is Extension. This step is very important and necessary. I mainly put key points and difficulties in this part. Also, I’ll praise Ss’ behavior in this class. It can make Ss know more clearly about what they have learned in this class, and proper complements can help them hold their interests. Step 5 "Homework". (1) Listen and read the new words after class. (2) Finish the exercise book.

  Ss will forget the new lessen soon if they don’t practice. It’s necessary to give some proper assignment. And it’s also an important feedback. Fifthly, I’ll show you my blackboard designing. I divide the whole class into 4 groups. Each group can get a star when any one of them does a good job. And that’s a competition that can keep their attention.   一、Analysis of the teaching material (說教材)

  This is a dialogue that happens in the fruit shop .several sentences surround selling and buying the fruit will be learned .During the first and the second part in this unit ,the kids have understood simple instructions and act accordingly ,and they can say simple words ,phrases or sentences by looking at objects and the pictures .eg: lychee, banana, apple,"What’s this ?It’s an apple."In Unit seven ,we grasped the numbers from one to ten .The main language points in this unit is to make sentences using the fruit and numbers freely and communicate with others in English in the fruit shop. And pay close attention to the single and plural forms of the nouns .According to the kids’ English level and the corresponding content in the daily life ,I give them some extra extending .To train their ability of communicate with the others in English ,I prepare the following design .

  Teaching aims (教學目標)

  1. knowledge and skill aims :(知識技能目標)

  Review the names of the ten different kinds of fruit and recognize the numbers from one to ten .

  Understand simple instructions about the numbers and act accordingly.

  Practice English and communicate with others in the situation.

  2. Equip them with the emotion ,attitude and value goals :(情感、態度、價值目標)

  Cultivate the spirit of co-operations in the group work

  Bring up the good quality of protect and make friends with the animals .

  二、Analysis of the learners :(說學習者)

  We are facing the 5 to 6-year-old little kids who just graduated from the kindergarten ,and they can not tell the difference between kindergarten and the primary school. sometimes they even don’t know how to behave in the class. So ,I think the most important thing for me to do is to attract their interests and make them love English and feel confident in this subject .so ,I will play some interesting games with them ,show them the funny cartoon movie and role the plays in the text or have a competation. we should not only focus on the language point itself ,but also set up the real circumstance where I can encourage them to express themselves better .What I try my best to do is to arouse the kids’ interests and protect their enthusiasm.

  三、Analysis of the teaching methods (說教法)

  says that during the Foundation Education period ,the total goal for English lesson is to improve the pupils’ ability of comprehensive using language .It promotes task teaching structure .According to the little kids’ physical and psychological characteristics of keeping curios ,active and imitating and showing themselves .I adopt the "task –research—construct " teaching methods and organize the class to focus on the importance and solve the difficulties .I give the pupils an open and relaxed circumstance in which they can learn to observe ,think and discuss .during this procedure ,the pupils’ ability of thinking and using language is developed very well .

  四、Analysis of the teaching procedures .(說教學過程)

  1. Warm up .(歌曲熱身)

  All the class sing English song "Ten little Indian boys " to arouse their interests and help them to step into English learning circumstance happily.

  2. Review the fruit and the numbers those we learned in the first and the second part in this unit .(復習數字和水果)

  A. Watch a funny video . and answer the questions .(learn more fruit and practice more sentence patterns eg: strawberry / watermelon/ pineapple /cherry) ask some questions .

  What’s this ?

  What colour is it ?

  How many bananas are there ?

  Do you like eating bananas ?

  What is your favourite fruit ?

  Encourage them to open their mouth and speak English as much as they can .

  B. Play guessing game .to review the spelling of the words using the basic pronunciation knowledge .

  C. Play a game named "up and down ".emphasis on distinguishing the single and plural forms of the nouns .

  3. Guide the pupils to the main teaching points .(引入新課)To comprehensive use the numbers and the fruit that is a needed in a fruit shop .Ask two volunteers to come to the front and choose the right number cards and stick it beside the right fruit according to the other pupils’ instructions .The quicker one will be the winner .

  4. Time to practice for all the class (全體同學操練)。The pupils choose the right cards they have prepared and put them up above their heads when they hear the teacher’s instructions and give them to the teaching answering loudly: "Here you are .’

  Group work : Divide the class into eight groups and every group will be decorated into a fruit shop, ask one pupil to be the shopkeeper and the other members in this group will be the customers .Encourage them to buy and sell the fruit with what they learned in this part ,I design a real situation that is common in our daily life and the kids will not feel uncomfortable or unfamiliar with it, The teacher will go around the class and supply the help to the unable ones .In such a peace and pleasant situation they like to speak the dialogue they learned to express themselves .They can feel the success and become confident in speaking English .

  7. Conclusion (總結)

  The teacher would lead the class to read the sentences on the board and ask some more difficult questions .Maybe the pupils can not understand them clearly ,but it doesn’t matter .we just give the pupils more information about the language and give them the better language circumstances that can help them in the future learning .

  8. Homework : (家庭作業)

  Encourage the pupils to design a little fruit shop at home and teach their family the dialogue in the fruit shop .When they practice this , they should take photos and show the other pupils the next day .

  In this lesson , what I design (not only the presentation of the main teaching points ,but also the activities) attract the pupils interests .They learn and practice while playing . I think it’s really a good lesson of high quality.

  Part1. My Understanding of the Lesson

  1. Analysis of the Teaching Material:

  This period is Revision of Unit2, Book8. It’s necessary and important to revise the main points after learning the whole unit. So teaching activities aim to help students revise the main points, and enable students to use them correctly and freely.

  2. Teaching &Learning Goals:

  ① Knowledge aim. Students are supposed to grasp the words, phrases, language points, sentence pattern and grammar in this unit.

  ② Ability aim. This lesson aims to improve students’ ability of dealing with problems in using the main points.

  ③ Emotional aim. Make Ss aware of the problems cloning may bring about, and reach a mutual opinion of life value.

  3. Teaching &Learning Key points: Revise, grasp and use the key points in this Unit.

  4. Teaching &Learning difficult points. How to help students use key points in a limited time.

  Part2. About Students:

  As to the students, they have known about Cloning and have learned the key points in this unit. So I want to help students to get something new from the revision of the key points and guide them to consolidate what they have learned.

  Part3. Teaching Theories, Methods & Aids

  1. Teaching Theories. In this lesson, I carry out the following theories: Students act as the real masters in class while the teacher himself acts as director; combine the language structures with the language functions; let the students receive some moral education while they are learning the English language.

  Show students some pictures of plants, animals and humans in relation to cloning, and then mention the some points to lead in the topic ------ the revision of Unit2.

  The purpose of the design is to attract students’ attention and to encourage students to talk to each other using key points.

  Step4. Presentation

  Present the goals & demands to the whole class.

  The purpose is to tell the students what they’ll do in this class and what level or standard they should reach in this lesson.

  Step5. Revision of Unit2

  Here I design the whole process as follows: There are two activities. One is for students to learn by themselves first and then cooperate with each other to solve the easy problems. The other is for teacher to help students master these key points through practice and explanation.

  And the whole revision is divided into 4 parts: key words, key phrases, key language points and key sentence pattern & grammar, with proper exercise behind each item.

  The aim is to let students revise and master them through self & cooperative learning. At the same time, with teacher’s help, students can also learn something new and improve the ability of using language points.

  Step6. Test & Practice

  Students should finish this test quickly and deal with any problem they meet in test through discussion and cooperation.

  The purpose is to check students’ knowledge about these key points, just to see if they can grasp and use them freely and correctly.

  Step7. Consolidation &Summary

  According to students’ performance, I design the following exercises just to consolidate.

  Purpose: Further understand and consolidate these key points

  Step8. Homework

  Students will be given some work related to this period to improve their ability to use language points.

  The purpose is to let students revise and consolidate the key points in this period, meanwhile, get them to build the habit of previewing new lessons.

  The last thing is about Blackboard design

  On the blackboard, I put the key points and their new usages so that students can take notes and revise after class.
