Step1 Lead-in

T:Please look at the title of unit 3 looking good,feeling good.From the title,we can see the topic of this unit is about beauty and health.Nowadays,more and more people care their appearances and their health.Please think over how to keep looking good and feeling good?

S:1)go on a diet/eat less

2)take weight-loss pills

3) do sports

T:We have these ways to keep fit.What do you think of sports?Do you think sports is important ?Do you for or against sports?Now you can discuss the question ,you are expected to give me your reasons .Then I will ask someone to present your own ideas.Now please discuss .(after about 3 minutes )Who can express your ideas?

S1:I think sports is important.Doing sports make us much stronger and healthier.We can take in fresh air when do outdoors sports.Sports are interesting to me.

S2:I think sports are a wasting of time. I just want to learn much knowledge.

Step2 Learn some new words about sports(partB)

T:There is a sport meeting at the end of this month.Some of you sign up actively to take part in it.What types of sports do you choose ?

S3:running,long jump,high jump,basketball

T:Besides these types of sports,there are other types of sports on P 46.Try to guess the Chinese meaning of words according to the pictures.

Step3 PartC

Ask students to read and complete Zhou Ling’s e-mail to Amy about sports she could do to make her strong again.The teacher should help students to finish them..Students should pay attention to the following sentences and give right event.

1) If you want to get strong and some fun with your friends,you could try basketball,skiing,football,volleyball,or baseball.

2) If you want to build your strength up by your self,then try weightlifting or running.

3) If you like sports that you can do on your own,then try aerobics,squash or swimming.

4) If you just want to have some fun and exercise with only one of your friends,how about trying table tennis,tennis,badminton,fencing,boxing or wrestling.

The students may give different answers.
