2.recognize = to know and remember sb or sth one has seen or heard bef ore "認出"強調從外表上辨認出，指一時性的動作。

①know:

狀態性動詞表示知道有這個人并認識他，在一定程度上還對他有所了解，指長久性的一種情 況。

eg:I know him, but when I saw him yesterday, I could hardly recognize him .

She had changed so much that I could hardly recognize him.

②recognize = to accept as being lawful, real, or having value.承認 ，認可

eg:His uncle refused to recognize her as his lawful heir(合法 繼乘人)

③recognize = be ready / prepared to admit."意識到，自認"后接th at從句

3.marry. vt / vi

A.作及物動詞，"嫁，娶"說marry sb. 不說 marry with sb.

eg:My friend married an Englishmen.

The man would not marry his daughter to that poor young man.

B.作不及物動詞，"結婚",表"結婚"還可用 get/be married.

-I got married last year.

4.after all.畢竟，終究，到底，有兩層含義。

(1)要知道…別忘了…,用來提醒某人某事，放在句首。

eg:She can't understand. After all, she's only a child.

(2)"雖然…，但畢竟…"發現事實與你想像不符，表示說話人意思的轉折，位于句末。

eg:Although they met with difficulties. I hear that they've s ucceeded after all.

5.call on/upon=to visit sb formally, either socially or on business.

訪問，看望，拜訪，常指正式的社交或業務來往。

eg:Last night I called on Mr Black and had a long talk with him.

The businessman calls on our company twice a month.

6.try on=to put on clothes,hats or shoes to test the fit, examine the

appearance,etc.試穿，試戴.

eg:She tried the necklace on and looked more beautiful.

Never buy shoes without trying them on first.

7.pay back money for sth.還錢作為支付…的費用

eg:We haven't paid back the money for those books.

(1)pay sb for sth.付錢某人買某物

eg:Did you pay the company for the goods?

8.be worth 值(多少錢)，值得；worth后接名詞(代詞)或V-ing.

accept 接受，指主觀上領受、接受

receive 僅指客觀上"收到""接到"，并不涉及主觀上是否愿意接受。

eg:I received a present from Jack,but I wouldn't accept it.

She did receive your invitation but she refused to accept it.

10.put on,wear,dress,have on

a.put on表示動作，可用于穿衣服，襪子，戴帽子，手套，眼鏡等。

eg:Put on more clothes,or you'll be cold.

You don't need to put on your cap.

b.wear表示狀態，have on 也表狀態，二者也都可以用于穿衣服，襪子，鞋子，戴帽子，手套，眼鏡等。只是have on一般不用于進行時態。

eg:Li Mei is wearing a yellow dress today.

She always has her red shoes on.軸he always wears her red shoes.

She was wearing a pair of white gloves(glasses,a gold ring,a news, watch, jewels ) at the ball that night.

c.dress:vt/vi

▲用作及物動詞時："給…穿衣服"既指狀態，也指動作

①.表示自己穿衣服時，接反身代詞。eg:She is old enough to dress herself.

②.表示替別人穿衣服時，接人的名詞或代詞作賓語：eg:She hurriedly dressed her son and took him to the kinder garden.

③.用過去分詞作表語，表示穿著狀況。eg:He is well dressed.

※ be dressed in...穿著…的衣服 eg:She was dressed in white.

▲用作不及物動詞：穿衣，穿(衣)禮服

eg:Get up and dress quickly.

11.疑問詞why,what,when,where等引導的名詞性從句，在句中作表語的用法。

eg:That's why he was punished.

That's what he wants to know.

That was when I was thirteen.

That's where we differ.

12.間接引語(indirect speech)

(1)引述一般疑問句，通常用whether或if引導，間接句中的語序常要用陳述句的語序。

He asked her,"Are you pleased?"→

eg: He asked her if she was pleas ed.

She asked me,"Have you finished the work?"→

She asked me whether I had finished the work.

(2)引述特殊疑問句時，仍用直接引語中的疑問詞來引導，并將疑問句的語序改用陳述句的語序。

She asked me:"Where have you been all those years?"→

eg: She asked me where I had been all these years.

He asked me :"Why didn't you stop her?" →

He asked me why I hadn't stopped her.
