二、語法精講：情態動詞（2）--掌握must，have to，have got to 的基本用法：

1．表示必須要做或照辦事。

例1：We must go and help her. 我們必須去幫她。

例2：You must do as you're told. 你必須照吩咐的辦。

例3：Cars must not be parked in front of the entrance. 嚴禁在入口處停車。

特別提醒：

（1）在回答由must引起的問句時，若是否定的回答，要用needn't或don't have to （不必），而不能用mustn't（不許）。 例如：

Must I do it now? 我現在必須做這事嗎？

No, you needn't. （=No, you don't have to.） 不，不必。

（2）出現過去時間概念時，常用had to; must較少用。

例如：My boss said on the phone I had to be in the office within ten minutes.

我的老板在電話中對我說，我必須在10分鐘內趕回辦公室。

2．表示一種較肯定的揣測（用于肯定句）。

例1：Mr. Li must be （going over our exercises ）in his office now.

李老師現在一定在他的辦公室（批改我們的習題）。

例2：She must have washed all the sheets by now, hasn't she?

她現在一定把床單全洗了，是不是？

特別提醒：

（1）在表示“必須”時，must與have to 意義很相近，但是若強調主觀看法時，用must；若強調客觀外界原因導致的情況時，用have to。

例1：I must do up （clean）my bedroom. It's dirty. 我必須打掃我的臥室，它很臟了。

例2：I have to clean my bedroom, or my mother won't be happy.

我不得不打掃我的臥室了，不然又要惹得母親不高興了。

（2）must與have to 問句形式及肯定回答比較：

例1：-Must we copy all the new words? --我們必須抄下所有的生詞嗎？

-Yes, you must. --是的，必須全抄下來。

例2：-Do we have to do it right now? --我們現在就得做嗎？

-Yes, you do. --是的，現在就得做。

（3）have to （=have got to 美國英語）

例如：I have got to do that for him. 我得為了他而去做那事。
