[辨析] appear, seem & look

（1）appear是根據事物的表面現象而提出的判斷，暗含事實往往并非如此之意；

look指憑視覺印象而作出的判斷，實際上也可能如此。

（2）seem是指暗含有一定根據，往往接近事實的判斷。它后面可以接名詞、形容詞、to be 結構，可以互換。

（3）look, seem之后可接like短語，而appear不能，look可以用進行時，但appear, seem不能； look seem可以接as if (though)從句，而appear不能；appear, seem之后可接that從句，而look不能；appear, seem之后可接to do sth. 結構，而look不能； appear, seem 可用于there引導的結構中， 而look不能。
