　　九華山在皖南青陽縣境內，是我國四大佛教名山之一。唐代文學家劉禹錫，登上九華山后，對其贊嘆不已，認為天下名山均不能與九華山爭長。李白曾三上九華山。九華山的特點是山奇峰秀，佛寺眾多。

　　早在東晉年間(401年)，山上就開始建寺廟，以后歷代都增建、擴建，形成三里一小廟，五里一大廟，廟宇遍布全山，據說興盛時期多達300余座，僧眾四五千人。現在保存完整的寺廟尚有五六十座。

　　游九華山，首先到九華街，這里海拔 600多米，是九華山的中心，寺廟也主要集中在這里，因此有蓮花佛國之稱。這里實際上是一個山上的村鎮，除了廟宇外，還有商店、學校、旅店、農舍，游人可以在這里住宿，并以此為起點，游覽山上的名勝。
